£2m grant success for Dr Helen Foxhall Forbes

Mar 21, 2022 | IAS News, society and environmental change

Researchers from Durham’s Departments of History and Archaeology have been chosen for a €2m European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant. Led by Dr Helen Foxhall Forbes (History), the team will conduct ground-breaking research on how people responded to environmental and climatic change during the medieval period.

The IAS supported a pilot version of this project in Epiphany term 2020 (Science, society and environmental change in the first millennium CE), demonstrating how IAS funding used to kick-start research can be essential in allowing projects to grow.
