IAS Fellows’ Seminar – From dreams to sleep oscillatory activity in psychosis
November 30, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
IAS Seminar by Dr Armando D’Agostino, University of Milan.
In psychosis, hallucinatory contents and false beliefs are firmly attributed to the environment. Likewise, self-generated perception cannot be distinguished from reality in dreams until awakening. Although direct testing of the hypothesis that psychosis reflects a dream-like waking state has been limited, indirect evidence partially supports this view, so several hypotheses on shared brain mechanisms have been proposed by psychologists, psychiatrists and sleep researchers over time. In this seminar, strengths and limitations of available experimental approaches in this field will be addressed. After reviewing available evidence, currently inevitable pitfalls and future directions will be discussed.
The Seminar will take place on Zoom. To register please click here.
