Dr Sowon S Park (DPhil Oxford) teaches at UC Santa Barbara. She specializes in British Modernism, Political Fiction, World Literature, and the relationship between Literature and other forms of knowledge, in particular Cognitive Neuroscience (https://www.english.ucsb.edu/people/park-sowon-0) Her previous academic appointments were at Oxford, Cambridge and Ewha (Seoul). She has held visiting appointments at UCSD and ZFL, Geisteswissenschaftliche Zentren, Berlin.

She is creator of Unconscious Memory Network (http://um.english.ucsb.edu) and co-creator/convener of an IHC Research Focus Group on Sustainability and the New Human (https://ihc.ucsb.edu/sustainability-and-the-new-human)). She is former/honorary President of the Research Committee on Literary Theory of the International Comparative Literature Association (https://iclatheory.org/)

Dr Park is co-series editor of Global Asias (OUP) and Medical and Health Humanities: Critical Interventions (Bloomsbury) and she serves on the editorial board of the following literary journals: Neohelicon, Arcadia, Primerjalna književnost and The Korean Association of Nineteenth Century Literatures in English.

Dr Park is a joint Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Study and the Institute for Medical Humanities.
